Fighting on the side of justice for God, the stature and ferocity of movement in Michael's depiction is evidence of the strength and protection he offers each of us. He asked that he not be shown slaying the dragon as has been illustrated so often in the past, as that is often misinterpreted to lead one to believe it is only situations of such magnitude where he might bring assistance. Rather, he is shown with the moon which symbolizes our emotions, as our emotions are often where the majority of our struggles lie.

Our daily tasks and situations may often require more strength that we feel we have within. Michael offers this needed strength and protection and also wishes to remind us of those qualities lying dormant within us. With his guidance and in recognizing and developing such abilities within ourselves, we find we are often able to slay our own dragons without the necessity of drawing our swords.
